The day started off rainy and cloudy like the few before, with no way of knowing when it would let up. Roslyn Harbor was grey and misty as I drove north toward Sea Cliff Manor. The only vivid color I could see is the bright green grasses of everyone's saturated lawn.
In my vehicle were bright colorful centerpieces on their way to Caroline's wedding. The floral mix included, thistle, asters, sweet william, limonium, spray roses, veronica, gloxinia, and wax flower. I knew that the weather may not allow an outdoor ceremony but at least these wildflowers would bring a breathe of sunshine indoors. I was thinking that if the bride felt a little upset by the weather, her flowers would surely lift the spirits.
I arrived with the team and we sprung into action. They were carrying the centerpieces to the table as I brought the bridal flowers to the suite. When Caroline saw them she said " Oh, they're so beautiful" everyone else in the room agreed and the bridesmaids told her, they are so "you"!
Next I joined the staff decorating the entry foyer, mantel of family portraits, and wedding cake. The reception room and whole venue was so transformed by the amazing mix of colorful blooms. How wonderful it is to create what Caroline envisioned and for others to know how well it fit her personality!
Ian the Maitre D' explained that the weather was improving and ceremony would be outside under the tent (just in case). We headed outside to the tent and realized how much the weather had improved! The sun was peeking out!
It seemed that not only had we transformed the venue into a wildflower garden but we had also brought along the sunshine too!
